Do you remember last year’s show of magnificent Wisteria blooms? I had no idea how good I had it! Well, I take that back. I sort of knew, actually. The first two years we were in the house we had one or two blooms on it. Last year was a complete show-stopper blow out and now we’re back to just two blooms again. It just goes to show that you can’t plan to have a wonderful display of flowers for unless you really know what you are doing. With Wisteria, I do not know what I am doing. Without touching it, we got this. I have no clue why we have two flowers this year and why last year there were more like 2200 blooms! I have asked around and have heard lots of wivestales, but nothing of note actually sticks with me as truth. I am racking my brain trying to remember if we did anything special (like cut it back) in the Spring or Fall of 2012 that would have created such blooms in 2013. I am pretty sure we have not touched it since we closed on the house four years ago. Every once in a while I go in and cut the wild pieces that are growing across the wood platform or out into the grass, but that is it.Whatever the case, there is a now lovely canopy of green shading the arbor, the furniture has been cleaned off, and I planted succulents in my terra-cotta pots last weekend. Not to mention, the weather has warmed up enough to where you might actually seek out shade in the late afternoon – it looks like we are ready to go! Summer, as promised. Pass the Frozen Vodka Slush!
