Budget, budget, budget is the name of the game here. The Garage Barn that we’ve been working on the designs for has clocked in at 1.5x’s the original estimate = YIKES! We’ll be cutting that down as much as we can, but there is no question we have to make savvy decisions elsewhere to make up for the luxuries we want in the barn. The barn has a third ‘bay’ off the back that will become our home gym. It will have a double height ceiling and will be filled with a set of weights, a Stepmill, a Spin Bike and a Wahoo Cycling Trainer. We should create a fun and pretty room to work out in, don’t you think? For that reason, I am considering hanging the vintage poster collection salon style (like I did in our Soho Loft) on the big wall between the gym and the garage portion of the barn…stay tuned!I will get more into the details of the tile selection as the bathroom demolition starts in the next week or so. We’re replacing the toilets, but keeping the original 1930’s tubs and sinks. We’re basically leaving the majority of the bathrooms “as is” with their original medicine cabinets, sconces and water faucets. The Master Bathroom (that was built in 2005) will be completely gutted, redesigned and outfitted with all new, higher-end finishes. And the kitchen? Well, to my delight the Mr signed off on a Black and White Checkerboard Floor this past weekend – yay!
