Our house is located right next door to a fruit and berry orchard. There are many reasons why this is a stellar location for a house (for one, the deer and bunnies hang out where there are endless snacks and never bother with our tulips) but my very favorite reason is that from mid-June to November there is always something ripe and ready to be baked into a muffin, buckle, cobbler, or pie. I am not much of a picker myself (outside of the vintage home furnishings variety) but I do appreciate that they always have pint upon pint of freshly picked goodies ready for purchase less than a half mile up the road from our driveway.
On Saturday I awoke to the weekly Hammertown email. Honestly, it is one of the few weekly newsletters that I actually subscribe to – it’s an excellent for all things Northwest Corner, loving where you live, design and seasonal recipe related. And wouldn’t you know they featured a Fresh Strawberry Pie Recipe on their site last Friday? So timely – clearly I should get baking! If pie isn’t your thing, check out 30 luscious strawberry dessert recipes from Midwest Living magazine. (BTW: you must check Midwest Living out on Instagram, I have been following them for a while now and their photos are gorgeous!)
I tweeted the link to the Hammertown Strawberry Pie Recipe which led to a flurry of other folks tweeting me links to their strawberry pie recipes and to those that they have tried. People say Twitter has changed –and it has– but I feel it is still the very best for gathering quick information and feedback from people who are passionate about the topic at hand.
How funny is it that the last time I wrote about Strawberry Pie on ABCDdesign.com was this exact week back in 2009? In that post I also talked about trending topics on Twitter. Either I am a broken record, or some classics never change!
