Well, it’s that time of year again – Holiday Bakery Week! This morning I brought home 8lbs of butter, 10lbs of sugar, 15lbs of flour, and 6 dozen eggs from the market. I am not kidding you when I tell you it is likely I’ll run out of supplies by midweek. I’ve said this time and time again, but for one week a year my ‘ABCD’ initials officially stand for Amy Bakes Cookie Dough. All of this Christmas Cookie baking is in preparation for our annual St. Lucia’s Day/Winter Solstice Party. St. Lucia’s Day is traditionally celebrated on the 13th of December, so I always schedule our party on the weekend that falls in mid-December. I love the idea of throwing a celebration on one of the the darkest, shortest days of the year – it’s so optimistic to think about how the days will only get lighter and brighter from here on out until Spring arrives!
