In the past, I’ve made it no secret that I am a huge fan of the gracious way that Blackberry Farm welcomes you into their “home.” So when I came across an interview on the Williams-Sonoma blog where they interviewed Blackberry Farm’s founder Kreis Beall about gracious entertaining, I was completely intrigued. One of the questions they asked her was: What are some easy ways a home cook can add elegance to their everyday meals? Some of my favorite answers: Always set the table early. Do it everyday. Practice — the better you are; the more you enjoy it, so don’t just do it for special occasions. Use your pretty things just at home just for yourself — your china, your crystal. Don’t use paper napkins. Treat yourself like a guest.I couldn’t agree more with her “Life is short, eat off the good china.” attitude about entertaining at home. And I mean it. Heck, I do it even when I am alone at the country house and it’s a table set just for one! It should come as no surprise that her thoughts on being a good hostess really resonated with me – especially with the Holidays fast approaching. I think there were lots of good thoughts on seemingly effortless entertaining in the article. If you happen to find yourself with an extra minute or two during your busy holiday preparations, it is worth following the link to read more from Kreis Beall on the Williams-Sonoma blog.
