This has been a rough week. As you know, I went to Knoxville. What I didn’t say last week is that the trip was planned around helping my sister-in-law sort through all the things that my dearly departed mother-in-law left behind. I am sure it goes without saying that it is exhausting and emotional to sort through so many precious things. I had gone there with the intention of supporting my sister-in-law through a tough time. She was going to set aside and pack up what she wanted and I would help. What I didn’t realize is that I was going to inherit family heirlooms too – unfortunately it is happening about twenty years earlier than any of us could have ever imagined. Needless to say, today I can’t quite shake my melancholy.Last night I flew from Knoxville to New York City via Memphis. When we landed it was pouring rain. Early this morning I grabbed my (still soaking wet) suitcase and headed to the country to check on our barn renovation project. BTW: It’s coming along nicely. Tomorrow they will install a large window where the garage door once stood. I am back in New England/New York for about a week before our big trip. More on that next week!
