Earlier this week, I was up in Northwestern Connecticut taking care of The Country House and made a special trip into New York City to go to a book signing for The Collected Tabletop at Archivia Books. It seems about once a month I have to stay up in Connecticut to do a deep clean on the house-otherwise we’d get tangled up in spider webs upon arrival! What is that they say? A woman’s work is never…I had gotten an invitation to the book signing from my friend Tobi Fairly. She’s got such an amazingly big heart, tremendous style, and it goes without saying that I didn’t want to miss seeing her while she was in the Big Apple. The Collected Tabletop is written by Tobi’s friend who is also an interior designer, and an expert Southern hostess named Kathryn Greeley. Tobi met Kathryn many moons ago in New York and was kind enough to introduce us the other night. As a gal who grew up with the last name Cupp – you can imagine that my tabletop collections started at a young age, right? Kathryn has managed to write the kind of book that I could have only dreamed of writing myself. Each chapter captures the thought that goes into each event, from invitations to the party theme menu and recipes, flowers designs, and the stories behind each china place setting.I have to say that the invitation for tabletop talk couldn’t have come at a better time – as I’ve been asked to design a Winter tablescape at the MomTrends event on November 15th at the Lands End showroom in NYC. I’ll be speaking to a group of 30+ New York City mom bloggers about holiday entertaining! How cool is that?
