I have not been making a whole big deal about the whole stationery design part of my life lately – I know. Truth be told, I am no longer putting an emphasis on finding new stationery clients. Back last Spring, (right about when I got my heart broken by Brides magazine) I was left wondering what to do. The popularity of wedding blogs has put so much pressure on brides to have a blog-worthy wedding that it’s made it absolutely frustrating to work with brides who have such unrealistic expectations compared to their post September ’08 budgets.
In June, our next step in life finally presented itself. We decided to settle down and make our home on the East Coast. At that point I slowed down the amount of new stationery clients that I had been accepting.
It was Summer of ’06 when we stopped being in New York on a consistent enough basis for me to explore freelance opportunities – which BTW goes hand-in-hand with when I started this whole stationery design endeavor.
The plan is to finish the renovation and get us settled in the country house. Over the last few months I have been toying with and exploring new opportunities. When I find the right one, you’ll hear it here first. And until then, I’ve left an open space in my life to put feelers out for those awesome freelance design opportunities I used to enjoy so much.
