The leaves had not quite budded when we were looking to purchase The Country House. I thought that the arbor in the yard was beyond storybook perfection – as the previous owners had created a utopia (of sorts) out in the middle of the woods. Weeks passed by as the papers were signed, inspections completed, and the closing was scheduled. It was a pivotal time in Spring – and upon closing – I found myself as an unexpected gardener. Reluctant is a better word! For the last 10 days, I have simply been enjoying looking out at it. I have let mother nature take it’s course – we’ve had several good rainstorms keeping them well fed. But soon, I will need to get out there and get some dirt under my nails. Truly, I know nothing about gardening. I can do wonders with flowers of the fresh-cut variety, but keeping these pretties alive? Oh my *garden* gracious!P.S. You may recall when I was talking screened-in porches the other day that I said we’d be installing a patio on Saturday. Delays, delays… we did the math we realized that we’d need 40, 30×30 blue stone pavers. I couldn’t source them on such short notice. The project got put on the back burner. Looks like we’ll be focusing on other projects this weekend. I hope you enjoy yours!
