Here I am stating the obvious: the economy stinks.
The good news is that Mr. D and signed the contract this week to sell our loft. Fingers *and toes* crossed, our buyer will get past the Co-op board. YES, you heard me right. Not only do we have to find a buyer BUT they also have to fill out an application AND be accepted by everyone who lives in the building. Buyer sits down to meet with the board members. Proceeds to get grilled on habits and personality – neighbors vote. NO KIDDING. What I am saying is that we can’t count our chickens before they hatch. The state of our pocketbook *in the worst economy we’ve seen in 100 years* rests upon the kindness of our neighbors letting us out before the NYC real estate market goes bust. Please wish us luck – the Greene Street Co-op board interviews our candidate on Saturday at 1pm!
You know what would make moving a whole lot easier? If we won this! Given the current economic conditions *the fact that the NYC economy is based on finance* it would be quite lovely to win a “Dream Home” in Sonoma. We’d sell our apartment, pack up and go hide out in the wine country while this economy works itself out.
Dreaming here: Maybe (once we win) I would write the ABCD Design blog about “settling” into the Dream House. I could sit on that beautiful wrap around porch *sun warming my face* with morning coffee in hand on a comfy wicker chair with my laptop. Click, click, click – oh the pure delight.
Maybe I would become buddy-buddy with the Scripps network and get a cooking show, better yet – a BAKING show! – We could film it right there in that beautiful Dream Home Kitchen! Too bad the range is not situated in the island for easier filming! winkwink.
Not looking for a new cooking show? I could be the next Martha Stewart. I am a trained chef, certified floral designer, fine artist, I knit, rubber stamp, make collages, I decorate – heck, I even know how to weave on a Cranbrook Countermarche Loom! I could make full size floor rugs and design linens for the entire household in my free time – if I wanted! There you have it. I have stated our case!
Maybe we could film a reality show about working with brides on their wedding invitations from the study … I am just sayin’… A girl can always dream, can’t she?
I hope this is not the first you’re hearing about the HGTV Sonoma Dream Home. At this late date the deadline to enter has passed. You were allowed to enter the sweepstakes everyday. I think I only submitted to win about six times. Somehow I think that will make winning it all the sweeter. Pop on over to HGTV and take a photo tour!
Tune in when HGTV ambushes the winner (at home!) on March 15th. You bet I will be home (on the sofa with Mr. D) awaiting our prize – winkwink! Are you crossing your fingers for Team Dragoo yet?
